PESHAWAR: Members of the Khyber Union of Journalists (KhUJ) and Peshawar Press Club on Saturday protested attack on noted columnist and TV anchor Raza Rumi in Lahore in which his driver was killed.
Led by KhUJ president Nisar Mehmood and PPC president Nasir Hussain, the protesting journalists were carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans against the attack on Raza Rumi, popularly known as Raza Rumi, who was injured in the attack along with his guard and driver near Raja Market in Karachi.
Speaking on the occasion, Nisar Mehmood and Nasir Hussain sought the arrest of those involved in attack on the journalist.
They said the journalists were constantly attacked only for discharging their duties, but no security and protection was provided to them.
The newsmen were also receiving threats, which were brought into the notice of the authorities but usually no action was taken on such complaints that many a time led to attacks on journalists.
The journalist leaders asked the authorities to provide protection to the journalists and nab those involved in attack on Raza Rumi.
