One dead as journalist attacked in Lahore

Two unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on the car of a TV anchor of a private news channel, killing his driver and injuring his security guard on Friday.

Raza received some minor injuries, while his driver Mustafa and security guard Anwar Hussain received multiple bullet wounds. The injured persons were taken to a nearby hospital where Mustafa succumbed to his injuries. The condition of the security guard is said to be out of danger. Upon being informed, police and rescue teams reached the spot and started inquiry.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has also taken notice of the attack and ordered the police officers to investigate the matter comprehensively. After the incidents, the Pakistan Union of Journalist (PFUJ) announced to hold a countrywide protest to show solidarity with the injured journalist.
The president, prime minister and other leaders of political and religious parties, journalist community, traders, lawyers, doctors and others strongly condemned this attack and demanded that the government arrest the culprits soon.
