Unidentified gunmen opened fire on the car of journalist and anchorperson forExpress News Raza Rumi in Lahore on Friday evening, injuring his driver, Mustafa, critically and his guard, according to news reports. The driver later succumbed to injuries while the guard who sustained bullet wounds is in hospital. Mr. Rumi who was injured, is out of danger.
Mr. Rumi is a contributing editor for The Friday Times, a columnist and author of a book on Delhi as well.

The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has condemned Friday’s attack on the senior Pakistani journalist Raza Rumi in Lahore,which killed his driver.
“We condemn this senseless violence against brave journalists like Raza Rumi, and mourn the loss of his driver,” said CPJ Asia Programme Coordinator Bob Dietz. “Critical journalists continue to face enormous risks in Pakistan.”
